How to reach us
Fairy Meadows has no road, which is part of its magic. Here is how to get here.
1. Get to Raikot Bridge
Raikot Bridge is on the Karakoram Highway (KKH), between Chilas and Gilgit.
- By road from Islamabad: typically 12–15 hours via the KKH. In summer, the route over Babusar Pass via Naran is often quicker and very scenic.
- By air: fly Islamabad to Gilgit (around 1 hour, weather permitting), then drive about 2–3 hours south to Raikot Bridge.
2. Jeep to Tato / Jhel
From Raikot Bridge, local jeeps take you up a narrow mountain track to Tato village, about 1.5–2 hours. Only local jeeps and drivers are allowed on this road.
3. Walk to Fairy Meadows
From the end of the jeep track it is a walk of around 3 hours (about 5 km, climbing steadily) through forest to the meadow. Porters and ponies can carry your bags.
Travel tips
- Carry your CNIC or passport; there are police checkpoints on the KKH.
- Mobile signal is limited around the meadow. Let us know your plans before you set off.
- Flights to Gilgit are often delayed by weather, so leave a spare day in your plans.
